Here are some books we like, related to our recovery. Some are really “recovery” books, others are about “spirituality.” Every order you place through Amazon from this page helps to support The Recovery Show. If you have suggestions for books we should add to this list, please send email to feedback@therecoveryshow.com or leave a comment below.
Al-Anon books are available directly from the Al-Anon online store. Most Al-Anon meetings have literature for sale, so you might want to check at a meeting before ordering Al-Anon literature online.

Where is the list of all your song choices you pick for each episode?
Thank you for all you do, JP
Joe, the songs are included in the notes for the episode. So if you want to find the songs for, say, episode 192, just go to http://therecovery.show/192.
I have read many of the books on the list and continue to use them in my recovery. A book you may consider adding is Letting Go by David Hawkins. The author shares the process of letting go and surrendering that which blocks us from a power greater than ourselves. Then guides the reader to understand the Map of Consciousness through which we all experience life. I have read this book once and now reading it again with friends.
I totally enjoy your podcasts… thank you so much for making them, they help me so much!
I’d like to see a selection of books about boundaries.
Hi Spencer,
My name is Michele and I am a first time listener and already hooked. What great messages and help with recovery!
I have for years read, given away, and bought more of Melody Beattie’s Language of Letting Go. These books have saved me many times. It wasn’t until recently that I realized how my codependency was holding me back and your show is going to be a part of my daily and weekly routine for many years to come.
Thank you!
Hello my 3 new best friends,
My husband went into rehab last Tuesday. Sitting at home not nosing where to turn I searched the internet and I went through many sites and podcasts and the minute I heard your 3 voices my heart knew.
I’ve listened to your very first podcast and haven’t stopped. I am amazed every that every broadcast has spoken to me and brought me to a place of knowing. Knowing that this IS my journey.
I thank you so much for your insight, honesty, and truth you share,
I am so excited about this journey.
Karen
Thank you so much for your podcast. It really helped me today. In the episode on Love and Fear, you and the wonderful speaker discussed a 92 page workbook on the steps. I don’t see it in the show notes. Do you know where I can find that? Thank you again for all your help. Kerry
There are two workbooks that might fit that description. First is Blueprint for Progress, which is a Step 4 workbook, and has 96 pages. The other is Reaching for Personal Freedom, which is a workbook for the Steps, Traditions and Concepts, and has 176 pages.
