I struggle with Step 11 and being disciplined enough to “do it” . It is so fantastic to hear Mary Pearl wisdom and humor on step 11. I will certainly try them. Thank you Spencer for all that you do.

I just listened to this beautiful episode yesterday. I am currently struggling with an alcoholic who was recently diagnosed with moderate dementia. Alcohol is most likely a contributing factor. One of the listeners asked if there were any episodes dealing with the topic of navigating life with an alcoholic who has cognitive issues as a result of their alcoholism. Since this episode was published, have there been any episodes that deal with this topic?

I always appreciate the wisdom of Mary Pearl! A listener, Matthew, shared a prayer from an Al-Anon book, “Making Choices”, p. 202. I can’t find that in any of my CAL. Can you help me locate it?

    1. The Recovery Show says:

I think I found it: It’s in the book Discovering Choices on page 220. The prayer that Matthew gave is not there, word for word, but the sense of it is there. Here’s a little bit of the text: “I now approach a challenging relationship issue by first asking God to be the third party present while I’m with the other person. I ask my Higher Power to give me the words and intonation that will make our communication the most effective. I pray that God control the course of the conversation and that the outcome be the best for all concerned.”
