trusting the process – a meditation

Whatever is happening in your life, don't pre-occupy yourself with the question “why?” But rather ponder more on to where these events will be bringing you. Know that you are being led to somewhere beautiful, beyond your present harsh reality. Once you get to the where, then you'll know the why. Trust the process.

I find myself, when I am upset, wondering “why” – “why is this person acting this way” or “why can't I fix this situation” or “why me”. This quote reminds me that asking those questions is not really helpful. For me, asking those questions is akin to standing blindfolded in a dark room and trying very hard to see everything.

Now when I am in a situation that I find uncomfortable I try to trust the process and ask  “where is my Higher Power trying to lead me?” When that is the questions I ask, I have absolute faith and trust in my Higher Power to take care of me. In this way, I am able to feel comfortable being blindfolded in a dark room, because the One leading me forward is a being that I love and trust completely and has shown me deep and unconditional love for all of my life, even when I was not aware of it.

Today, when I ask “why,” I only ask “why am I behaving in this manner – is it out of love or out of fear?” When those are the questions I ask, I am able to let go of the results and do the next right thing, rather than try to manipulate the situation. I can do this because I know my Higher Power is taking care of me every step of the way and leading me to exactly where I need to be.

A meditation for April 23, 2013.
