  1. Carrie, Texas says:

    Hi there,

I wanted to post a comment here rather then leave a voicemail so others can find this if they’re interested in the topic of serenity.

I lead a meeting a few days after we recorded this episode on Serenity. As always, those amazing people in the room said so much that helped me, I wanted to share it here in case it touches others as it did for me.

In my lead in share, I mentioned something I’d heard in Ellen C.’s talk when she said she told her sponsor, “he triggered all my buttons” and her sponsor asked, “what are you doing with buttons?”
Later someone shared that they think of it as first being aware of our triggers or buttons and then gently covering them rather then trying to eradicate (which means ‘to destroy completely; put an end”) them. Because as human beings, we will always have triggers or buttons.
I just loved that. It felt so much more gentle and loving to me.

Another member shared that sometimes we hand over our serenity as easily as if someone asked us to pass the salt. I loved that too. I’m a very visual thinker and so that helps me to have that visual.
